Workplace culture is a topic that has always fascinated me. Every organization’s is different. When I have the opportunity to chat about Vectorform’s culture, which is pretty much any time I can squeeze it into a conversation, I feel there is only one way to describe it. It’s like electricity; every day I walk through the door and while I can’t see it, I can feel it! I know it’s there, and it has an effect on everything!

As you witnessed in the video, a major component of Vectorform’s culture is gaming. If you are ever given the opportunity to walk through one of our offices, be sure to take a look at a few Vectorformer’s work spaces, you will notice a theme. Legos, action figures from that teammates’ favorite game, Nerf guns; these cool little items fill our desks and offices. Growing up, we were the kids that couldn’t get enough of it. We were the kids whose parents had to shout, oh so lovingly, to step away from the game and get to the dinner table.

Alas, we grew up…and to some of our parents, into surprisingly, successful, hard workers. So where is this momentum coming from? We work hard because of the utter passion we have for technology, its capabilities and knowing we have the ability, as a team, to create something revolutionary. While gaming is a fantastic way to blow off some steam, it has taken our relationships with one another to a different level. At Vectorform, we are not just teammates; we are very much a family.

As our HR Director, Brian DeLeon, mentions in the video, he’s the cool kid with the Tigers hat, “we don’t just have a creative department; we are a team of creative individuals,” and creativity cannot thrive in a negative environment. Spending time playing Wii, ultimate Frisbee or Magic the Gathering, has and continues to have this awesome effect on the way we interact, collaborate, communicate, go about our decision making and our daily work practices in general. Gaming creates a happier work environment, and a happier work environment, beyond something everyone desires, is an essential piece of Vectorform’s culture and key to our success.
